#schnitzelandboominiquiltswap

Over the weekend I was able to put the finishing touches to my #schnitzelandboominiquiltswap mini.

If I go into the details about the why, then it might become really obvious who I have made for, so I will save the backstory for once it has been gifted.

However as Nicky quickly, (and thankfully) noticed on instagram, it is meant to be quilty DNA!

I EPP'ed the pieces, which I had drafted with dear son's school compass and an empty cereal packet, and then appliquéd onto the LV patchwork background.  Getting the photo in the last of the summer sun has cast all sorts of wonky shadows, sorry about that!

I used variegated perle cotton to hand quilt simple randomly spaced lines, which was the perfect accompaniment to the Rugby on Saturday.

It measures up at 18" square, and I am really pleased with how it turned out.

I have also made a Liberty Lola pouch to accompany it, and I will no doubt add a few other bits and bobs nearer to mailing day and will show you everything then, promise.

And if the lovely person who is making for me is popping in, I can pretty much guarantee that I have not acknowledged anything you may have posted, asked or shown.  As much as I love swapping, the sheer number of swappers (almost 1000!), and all the photos appearing on instagram, makes it all rather overwhelming, so I have shied away!  Please accept my apologies x

Purple Friday...

Over breakfast the girls remembered that they had forgotten to bring a party invite home.  The party is tomorrow!

So this evening I did the swift pulling, cutting, sewing thing.

I midi-sized Svetlana's Lola pouch pattern for the 8th birthday girl…

I managed to get this all done whilst the girls were at Brownies, having stitched on 10 more badges before they went.  When they came home, they had Thank You flowers for my help at the Pack Holiday.  They are just schmoozing me for next year no doubt!

So another week done, and a busy weekend ahead, I hope you have a good one too xxx

Sunny Success!

What a beautiful day - I cracked on with some stitching, caught up with last night's Ordinary Lies on my iPad all while the conservatory was still cool enough to sew.

So I go me a FAL finish already!

I finished up my #UKminiswap extras, I will get a group shot before I pop the lot in the mail, but here's the FAL item, an Anna-Maria Horner Lola pouch…

I have loved all the Lola's I have made, and this is no exception, and the Cotton & Steel binding has to be one of my favourites.

I also made a good start on my Betsy Travel Bag, not quite caught up with the Sew-along, but a good start nonetheless…

I could have achieved more, but I spent an hour or so soaking up some vitamin D, because I am sure the lovely weather won't last and I've really got to keep those rickets at bay xxx

Springtime Lola...

Another retirement gift, another Lola pouch…

More Essex linen and Frances Newcombe prints, and those lovely extras, metal zipper and leather pull…

I've said it before, and will no doubt say it again, this has got to be the most satisfying pouch to make, love you Svetlana x

And with that successful start to the day, I am also now at binding-point of my #IGminiswap, and think that a little Lola extra will be in order!

Now if you will excuse me posting so early in the evening, I am off to the Guide hall to fill in the paperwork so that I can sleep over at the Brownie holiday in May.  Oh what have I done!?

Ta dahs!

Here are the finished Lola's!

The first, for my colleague, now ex-colleague, which went down very well, it has to be said…

Apologies for the dodgy night-time shots before I wrapped it up last night, sorry.

However this afternoon I finished the other one destined for my Mum for Mother's Day…

Hurrah for the return of the sunny outside photos!!

Yep, I am more than happy with these, complete with little leather zip pulls, and the combos of heavier weight 'bottoms' in Essex Linen and a Kokka blend, with the lovely AGF 'tops'.

That's 4 Lola pouches so far, I know there will be many more!

A lovely pair of Lolas!!

Almost finished!

I pulled fabrics yesterday, but all the cutting, fusing and stitching were on today's agenda, (along with a load of school stuff and trips to the post office).

I have just finished the binding on the one I need to give as a retirement gift tomorrow, the other needs to be finished for the weekend, so I am on track.

I love this pattern so much; hope the recipients are in agreement.

Lighthearted Lola...

I may be suffering from a heavy heart, but a little sewing yesterday (which actually took me all day), and a combination of Lighthearted, (Ayumi's so gorgeous new line for Kokka), and Sveltlana's pattern, I ended up with this…

Poor rainy day photography, I have resorted to the stairs for pictures, sorry.

This large sized pouch pattern is superb!

With a metal zip, a little silver leather patch, and natural Essex Linen with sneaky band of the floral inside, this was a labour of love.  Yes, I stitched half the zip in upside down first time, but there was limited swearing.

I need to play serious catch up with my Amitié BOM, the next month arrived today, so I may be popping the hand-piecing in here, you know, to keep me motivated.

PS. Apologies if I owe you an email/reply, I'll be on it over the weekend, promise xxx

Lola, L-O-L-A Lola, L-O-L-A Lo-la-ah!

I bought Svetlana's Lola pouch pattern as soon as I saw it!

A pouch, with binding - genius!

Needing to make a present for my sister's birthday, on Saturday I pulled out a nice little combo of fabrics, Priory Square, Cotton & Steel, Pat Bravo and Frances Newcombe prints…

This is an awesome pattern.  I only made the smaller size, but I want one, or two for me now.

I obviously finished the binding by hand; even with that, it was under a couple of hours in the making.

If you fancy a pouch pattern that is just a little bit different, and like having someone else do all the measuring and thinking for you, I can definitely recommend it.

I also finished up my secret C&S cushion (oops, did I say cushion!?), too, so not a bad weekend's work.

Back to the office today, kids in school, really looking forward to my day off on Wednesday!
