Home Sweet Home...

There have been been far too many non-sewing posts round here lately, so instead of going random this Thursday, I have some stitching to show!

Queen Bee in Stitch Tease this month is Ange; with a well thought out colour scheme, and house theme, I selected a nice mansion for my greys and greens.

The paper-piecing pattern is a freebie from Janeen van Niekirk via Craftsy.  Janeen is lovely, I couldn't work out the download, so I emailed her and found out the pattern had been corrupted, she emailed me straight back with the new version before getting Craftsy to update her pattern.

The cutting was a chore, as these things always are, but the pattern was really easy to sew.  I did all the prep last night, stitched it up in the hour and a half before the school run, and I pulled all the papers whist waiting in the car...  oh yes, I'm back!

Ange also requested a figure or animal in the door or window, so I went for the pair of giraffes!  The lady has a bit of a crook neck, but with such a long one, that is no surprise!

Some of my seam allowances are a little scant, and a couple are huge, when I forgot to trim, but it mostly turned out just right.  I squared it up at the end, and I think it measures c. 12" x 16".

I hope this will fit nicely into the Estate quilt, the respectable end, obviously.

Linking belatedly with Liz's Thursday mularky xxx

  14. Love the giraffes - and love your description of fitting in sewing stuff around school runs too - the only way to get stuff to happen usually around here!

  15. I'm so glad to hear you're back to your super-productive sewing-machine self! Love the house! And I had a fabulous time in London and other places in Europe. Next time, we will work it out for lunch or high tea or something. And...I'm commenting at 3:28 am since the jet lag is in full swing. :(

  21. Very stately house there, I don't think it should be on any kind of estate at all
