Not my girls, but the quilts for a friend who is due with twin boys any second now.
I love how these quilts turned out. They aren't big, c.36"x44", and they are not particularly clever, just like babies really, but I think they will come in handy and be taken in the spirit in which they are given...
...mainly sympathy!!

It is such hard work having twins, that I won't bang on about here; but for those first couple of months, even the most laid back parents would be forgiven for wishing it wasn't really happening - it eventually gets easier, and you are able to laugh at the sight you must have been trying to breastfeed both babies at the same time, and you eventually give up fretting about how selfish people can be, not holding doors open when you are struggling to manoeuvre 2 baby carriers to see the health visitor; trust me, double-buggy revenge is sweet!
But I digress...
These were fun to make, easy to quilt, and I think make a nice change from traditional blues and baby prints for boys.
Now enough of the successes, I need to get on and start making up excuses for my FAL failures!
I love these colours. It really is nice to have something bright for a baby instead of pastels.
ReplyDeleteThey've lovely and vibrant and I like the mix of squares and HST's. It is nice to see a baby quilt that doesn't shout 'gender specific baby quilt'.
ReplyDeleteAnd, just like babies they are adorable and snuggly. Great sympathy gift!
ReplyDeleteThese are just delightful! I love the colours, and the quilting, what lucky little babies. Let us know when the boys arrive!
ReplyDeleteI laughed! I have sympathy for anyone having twins as well! Cute quilts though. They will love them.
ReplyDeleteThose quilts are absolutely gorgeous Hads :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat quilts, Hadley! And I can just imagine you ramming some poor guy with your gigantic stroller!
ReplyDeleteThese are simply wonderful - great colours and stunning design. Love them. I too hate any baby colours - think they should all be dressed in lime green!
ReplyDeleterofl at "sympathy". I remember when my eldest was teeny, seeing a woman with twin babies at a cafe and being almost overwhelmed with a combination of pity and relief. I truly don't know how you do it!
ReplyDeleteLove the quilts, and the humour too. Double buggies, even when you don't have twins, had their moment of revenge for most of us.
ReplyDeleteLove the quilts and its colors. Now you were able to take a photo of back and front in one picture. Twins are very lucky in getting the quilts.
ReplyDeleteLovely bright quilts! Kudos for getting through twins, I am not sure how parents of twins manage it. One of my friends (with twins) said you just have to be extremely organised. This is probably the reason I was not blessed with twins! I am hanging by a thread with having them one at a time!
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful quilts!!
ReplyDeleteThese quilts are really lovely Hadely, very fresh
ReplyDeleteI think they ARE clever quilts, and beautiful to boot! I'm sure they will be loved, great job!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I love your colour choices but you're wrong, they are clever. Or at least you are to have come up with the idea of adding those hsts. It's such a wonderful effect.
ReplyDeleteAw these are so cute Had! Jxo
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful quilts! I hope you caught lots of 'non-door opening' ankles with the double buggy?!
ReplyDeleteLove the colors in these! I have had two friends have twins recently and my goodness. I give them a lot of credit.
ReplyDeleteThey are gorgeous Hadley! Just the thought of having twins brings me out in a cold sweat, one was bad enough ;-)
ReplyDeleteThese are adorable!
ReplyDeleteooh Hadders, I love your twin quilts ... same fabrics same basic design but different configuration - just like the real thing ... see? clever ...
ReplyDeleteI almost want to have twins.
ReplyDeleteGood job!
Ooh, cool, and definitely with longevity past babyhood with those prints!
ReplyDeleteThey are gorgeous quilts! Now I can just imagine you ramming into people with a double buggy with an innocent look on your face! =D
ReplyDeleteDon't beat yourself up about what you didn't finish! These are great quilts!
ReplyDeleteThese look fab Hadley... I remember vividly the joys of the double buggy- mine were 18 months apart & it would tip when one child was lifted out!!!
ReplyDeleteThese are fantastic twin boy quilts!! Lucky friend (for the quilts...after your post, not so sure about the 2 babies at a time part). I have huge respect for moms of multiples. I barely held it together with my first ONE and had a 2 year recovery period before the second one appeared.
ReplyDeleteI have almost 3 yo twins. Totally feel the sympathy. My advice for twin moms it gets better and schedule!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely darling...I love this line of fabric!
ReplyDeleteThose are lovely and I am sure they will be loved. Twins are so cute, but I admit I was glad that I did not have any.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine how hard it is to cope with twins - the thought of one scared me off! Lovely quilts though, and you can relax knowing this time the twins aren't yours!
ReplyDeleteI do like these, and I'm sure the mum will be delighted. A friend had twin girls (sadly losing her husband before they were even born) and has now had twins again with her new husband!!!
ReplyDeleteI am imagining that twin girls is a lot of effort but twin boys might even top that!??
ReplyDeleteGreat quilts - And I'm sure you will be there with lots of advice to follow the quilts!
