What the jeggings!?

Well I promised to show you my shopping spree haul, and for once it included non-fabric related purchases!

In fact I almost bought a whole outfit, had it not been for my indecisiveness on footwear.  Having been unable to get any Orla Kiely for Uniqlo online, I was over the moon to be able to get a Cars top and flower scarf in the real life shop; (I have a bit of a handbag collection going on, so this is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper!).

I also bought jeans.  Real jeans, proper denim, boyfriend cut, perfect fit, no buggering about!  Thank you Next, for not being entirely full of jeggings!  I don't know about you, but jeggings should be illegal for those over 21!  There were way too many "ladies", the wrong side of 40, all jegged-up wandering the shopping centre.  Oh my eyes!

No trip to Bluewater would be complete without John Lewis though, so more cheap as chips Joel Dewberry and some self-cover buttons for a plan; I may have stroked the FMF bolts, I'm not telling...

I even bought a CD - you know those old-fashioned shiny things that actually make you feel like you own the music.  Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds was my soundtrack to September; if you are not familiar, or think you aren't, please check this out...

And finally the sewing aid.  I admit defeat, old age (42) and decrepitude and now sport a super-sewing sleuth magnifying glass that Sherlock would be jealous of.

Benedict for Annabella!
To tell the truth I am not sure how I managed without it, the cross-stitch is coming on a treat!

So there you have a glimpse of not only my trip but what I will be wearing, listening to and stitching this autumn xxx

  1. "All jegged up" has to be my favorite line I've read today. And honestly, jeggings should be illegal for those under 21, too. Congratulations on all the fun purchases!

  2. You are KILLING me! They're jegged up in Galway too. I'm still waiting for the fashion police to release their massive fashion intervention. Anyone? Anyone?

  3. I think they should be illegal full stop! But then what would we laugh at!??

  8. What a great excuse for a gratuitous picture of the delectable Mr Cumberbatch! One day I must get one of those magnifiers, I'm sure it would make my hand stitching neater. As for jeggings - I have never tried them as I don't think they are made for English Pear Shapes such as me!

  9. Oh swoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon. Sorry, what did you say you bought? Oh yes, lovely - all of it. Love the look of the boyfriend jeans. I only have fat clothes. I will not be buying anything new until I have dropped at least 2 dress sizes! Thank you for the eye candy. Sigh.

  10. Ah yes, jeggings. (sigh)
There's nothing more disgusting than being an unfortunate soul "behind" someone all jegged up and out. Most gals look like they have 2 bulldogs fighting in the seat of those fashion dis-ass-ters. Let's face it, jeggings are like long underware, great to have but no one, and I mean no one, should have to be subjected to such visual torture. Maybe that's why you needed the magnifier, your poor eyes have also been "jegged"!
Enjoy your new jeans and wear them with gusto, hon! ;O)

  11. Loving the Orla goodies. I also object to jeggins/leggings worn as trousers by any age! Ladies, cover those buttocks!

  12. How could I have missed Orla Kiely for uniqlo! Arrgghhhh! I am sure you will look fab in them.

Re the magnifying glass - I have got to the stage I remember my mum reaching - namely not being able to see with OR without my glasses! I spend most of the time at home without them on and then can't find them when I need to drive somewhere..... So I understand exatly where you're coming from.

  13. oh if only I could get my teenager to see the error of her jeggin/leggin ways! Personally I haven't worn real life proper jeans for at least 15 plus years, some shapes just don't look good and even in my slimmer days that was still me! Lovely lovely purchases, enjoy your new clothes :)

  15. I'm jealous of the new jeans! I've given up trying to find any that fit. M&S have brought out a range for different shapes. 'Curvy' my arse! They don't come close! (no pun intended)

  18. I hear you on the jeggings! What's cute on my kids with their skinny little legs is not so cute on my pushing-40 legs!

  19. Love your buys! Jealous of the jeans, I haven't worn a pair in over a year and can't until my knee is better (ugh). And you are so right about the jeggings. There should be a law against it!

  23. I shopped Uniqlo online. But I hope you tried the T-shirt on as they have very little give in them and the first two went back for bigger sizes as I reckoned if they shrank in the wash I'd not get my arms in them. I also got myself some stoles and some for crimbo pressies including the one above. This was the first time I'd got any Orla from Uniqlo online as the few times they did stuff in the summer it sold out too quick - winter they seem to have been restocking quickly.

I'm very jealous about the self cover buttons as I have the tool and no buttons to cover!

  25. I'm a Next boyfriend girl, too! Thwe jeans, not an actual bloke. But wouldn't that be handy - shopping for a new fella when you wear out the old one. heh.

  26. jeggings that are slightly see through are the worse..... good boyfriend jeans are just the best! John lewis in bluewater is a lovely place to be... and glad you got the light - i have been so tempted myself but was worried it really did make me old! but your younger than me, so i now have permission!

  30. Seriously - that was a Priority Flat Rate box there!

    (in the video)

FYI- jeggings were very trendy in Sweden and Finland this summer when I visited. Thank God, Oregonians are too slacking in the trend department (other than REI waterproof fashions) to sit up and take notice.
