Domesticated...

Cleaning, sewing and baking; yep, something has got me in the homely mood!

We did pop out today and enjoyed the warm sunshine and a Halloween hunt at the local garden centre; then we came home, ate lunch in the garden then I baked an apple cake, my first.  I would of taken a photo, but I'm sparing you the shock of just how little is left!!

I made my sample block for November's Stitch Tease (success!), and made up a batch of chilli.

I've also been sorting mis-behaving hudls and their equally ill-behaved owners and now I just want to put my feet up in front of the box; Holby, River, all good.

OK so the ironing pile is humungous and there are other less than savoury piles of gubbins in need of sorting, but I'm getting there.

And just because I have nothing else I can show you just now, here's another little block for My Small World…

Half Term Random

Just a few pics today, because I am tired out after a lovely day with my parents here; there was a dash to the shops in the torrential rain after we won the Women's Bronze at Curling, and a chilly trip to the park this afternoon in the intermittent sunshine.  Weather, please, make up your mind!

So this week we have made the scariest cat biscuits ever...

... and visited the Sea Life Centre in Brighton...

Got to love a smiley stingray every time!!!

And all week we have been humming...

Friday Fings!

A potentially quite calm day was kicked into touch at about 9 am when I re-read the letter about camp and spotted the part about all Cubs to bring a homemade cake with them!  Bugger.

I don't do baking, other than that banana bread recently, so, with a bit of wishful thinking and a super special, and thankfully helpful friend, I jotted down the recipe for chocolate flapjacks, (having sampled many at the weekend), and dashed off to get supplies, including a baking tin, (oh I know, say nothing!).

Obviously we had to sample some, to make sure the Cubs were going to be OK, and I have been told by the girls to make more tomorrow, and that they want flapjack instead of cake for their birthday... in November!  Success then.

More in-keeping with the me you have come to know and love, a delivery from Pink Castle's 30% off skinny bolt sale last week; 2yrs of AMH voile and some Liberty Lifestyle...

And I have managed to crack on a little with my Super Tote...

I have got to the stage of basting the elasticated pockets to the lining, so fingers crossed it will be a June 1st finish.

Finally, dear son got dropped off at camp, complete with flapjacks, and it looks like they are going to have a great time...

So that'll be May then; finishing on a high in both temperature and spirit.  See you in June xxx

My Weekend

Well it was a wet and windy weekend here, with odd moments of sunshine, luckily coinciding with this...

But after the domestics were taken care of, there was a little time for some stitichery.

Yesterday I made a start on my partner's name tag for FQ Retreat...

I have embroidered the name and blog-name of my secret partner under those there virtual buttons.  The liberty patchwork has ended up with 1/2" squares.

I am undecided on what colour/fabric to bind and make the lanyard in - yep it'll be a lanyard (again); I do not like pins, and I expect my partner to tow that line too!

Today after the duck race, I settled down and pieced all the crosses for the next border of my Marcelle Medallion...

And because there was a rather large bunch of bananas turning blacker by the minute, I made another Moshi Monsters 'nana bread - yeah, I am almost fooling the kids that I can cook!

So that was my weekend; hope you managed to cram some good stuff into yours too!

Be careful what you wish for...

It's here, lots and lots of snow.  Actually, not that much, but 6" is way more than the local road gritters can cope with, apparently!

School was open this morning, however the headmaster gave me the option to take the kids straight back home, but for some reason I thought it was a better use of taxpayer's money to try to get to work.

I got half way there, in twice the time it should have; visibility sporadic, road surface slippy and the other drivers on the white-knuckle duel-carriageway, mental! So I did an about turn and headed back home.

I stopped off for some milk in the village, and it was like a scene from Armageddon in Tesco Express, the shelves were pretty much bare, and people were frantically filing up with petrol, I assume in case they were going to have to evacuate to warmer climes!

So I got home, suffering from brain-freeze, and did a run round with the hoover before the school finally closed at 10.30am.

I left the snowball fights and sledge-dragging to the kids, whilst I sewed up my next Stitch Tease block, a 24-incher for Helen.  Bright wonky stars on Kona Ash, but I can't show you anything more than the sneaky peak above, sorry.

Rainbows was unsurprisingly cancelled this evening too, much to the girls' disappointment, so we baked some cookies instead; happy faces all round.

And that was my Snow day.  I hope you have stayed warm (or cool Mrs S!), and are easing nicely into the weekend.  I am off to to do some PLPS stalking xxx
