Spring Carnival Finish...

I have stitched away slowly on this one since June, and now summer is over, and it is done...

With a whopping 26" cushion pad, it has to be one of the comfiest lounging cushions ever, although it does not go with anything else in our living room!

I backed the carnival panel with some fusible fleece and did some simple straight line quilting at 3/4" intervals in aqua (5006) 50wt Aurifil.  Joined the front to the back with a french seam, and there's even a 'hidden' zip!

Ballet lessons start again this week, so I think I need to get sorting another little EPP project, to wile away those happy hours x

Summer's gone...

I went back to work today, and had to consciously force myself through the door; it's now raining too, so summer has definitely ended. I would be looking forward to cozy evenings quilting, but I am having a nervous breakdown every-time a see a bit of sock fluff on the carpet or a wonky cushion, so all those loose threads are not going to relax me - until we sell the house!

However I have spent the evening laying out and cutting the sections for the back of the Freebird quilt, I think it should turn out as planned...

Please excuse the terrible picture - the quilt is rather big, and I couldn't get it all in!

The girls and I stopped in at the library before school pick-up today, and I sadly handed back the Kaffe Fassett 'Quilts in the Sun' that I had already renewed, and had for the past 6 weeks. On the way out, it was sitting on the pile ready to go back on the shelf, so I grabbed it again and have another 3 weeks to look at the stunning pictures!

Now I go cleanin' windows to earn an honest bob...

I got the three kiddies to help wash down the windows and sills at the back of the house this afternoon, taking advantage of the hot weather; not sure the windows look much better, they couldn't reach very high, but it kept everyone entertained for about 15 minutes!

I have added a stripey border to the cowboy quilt, as it was looking a little on the small side, and I'm glad to say it looks much better. Looking forward to getting it all together.

This morning I actually managed to get the copy of Kaffe Fassett's 'Quilts In The Sun' from the library, so beautiful. I am now surrounded by fantastic images and serious self-doubt. I don't think I am every going to have the patience to perfect those complicated patterns.

There is a super tutorial by Ashley of Film In The Fridge today for starburst blocks, I might give that ago...one day!

Well better go to bed, I need to rest my eyes before the 3D experience that is 'Toy Story 3'...excited!
