Bank Holiday Block Bonanza!

Last night, after what felt like an extremely long day of over-stimulated, chocolate-driven children, I got very busy with my scrappy blocks.

I made it up to the 25 I was planning, and then I went that extra square foot with some mini, 2.5" blocks to break up the sashing.

I need to make some strips for skinny sashing and binding, then I'll be ready for piecing... I have a cunning plan!

I have kind of raced ahead, doing my own thing even though this was meant to be part of the quiltalong, but I am trying to keep to the spirit of Aneela's original quilt, even though her scraps are all totally beautiful, and mine, well, aren't!

  2. This is so lovely - I can't wait to see what you have planned. I've just been having a closer look and I'm really jealous of your scraps. I spy Echino, Momo, Lizzy House, Laurie Wisbrun, Jay McCarroll & Erin McMorris in there. You've put them together beautifully!

  4. The blocks are amazing, and look even more so when they are all lined up together. I put my name down for Aneela's and want to give the blocks a try but seriously do not think I have enough scraps in each colour to do a rainbow. Thinking my blocks might be mini rainbows in themselves.

  28. oh, but they are lovely - both the bigger ones and the minis.
To name some of my favourites: the swan (or is it a goose? anyway it's cute), the tree (I love that with the striped fabric at the bottom it looks almost as if it were in a pot), the little blue birdie (somehow it reminds me of Alice in Wonderland)
ok, I'd better stop now :)
