Pencil cases!

Now, you may think that giving my kids felt tips is not the wisest of moves...

But fresh new packs of washable Crayolas needed fresh new homes.

I gave the small people free-reign of a tiny selection of fabrics, (I am not completely bonkers), and then whipped these up in an evening...

No fancy/annoying zipper tabs, nothing too adventurous.  They are likely to be used and abused; and I am under no illusion that pen lids won't be lost by the end of the week, and these will no longer be the pristine beauties that you see before you.  But I can live with that; mostly!

  4. Fab cases, I so wanted to make things for my little ones start at school, but with less than 2 weeks to go and still no sewjo, it's not looking great, oh well! :o)

  8. If only you'd said, I have a whole pile of uglies I could have sacrificed to the pen ;o) Oh, and I overheard a hysterical conversation at work the other day about your employers...

  9. So cute! I toyed with the idea of making the fancy paper pieced pencil case from patchwork please, but then decided I would probably weep when it inevitably got lost/drawn on/damaged. You plan is much better.

  11. cunning plan to encourage them to let you sew! "ok, I'll make these for you, but you need to play nicely without bothering me, they will be finished in six hours and then i can feed you / play / sort out your differences / help find the rabbit. . . "

  14. Your pencil cases are great, and your youngster's self-art is fun. I hope it really was washable?

  15. Marvellous makes. I want to go back to skool just to need one. Oh and as for whether those are washable. Can't be as bad as the time I took red avon lipstick to my brothers sleeping face. It turns out even after a wash the stain was left behind...

  22. Cute pic! What a monkey. I let my kids play with textas. They generally don't draw on themselves but always leave lids off or them laying around everywhere. Once they're gone that's if! No more if you can't look after them. Love the pencil case. I've never tried making one.
