Doin' It For The Kids...

Poorly twin slept right through the night (in a cinnamon and menthol coma) and woke up raring to get back to school - so the flipside was, I got to go and help again, dashing my plans of shouting "Are you OK?" periodically from my sewing machine for the day.

I was tasked with supervising the making of paper chains, and in true 5 year olds' Christmas style, easier said than done, and the less said the better!

So having posted parcels to New Zealand and Brighton, I dashed round Tesco (alone!), and was left with a whole hour to play before pick up time.

I pulled out the next-in-line from my zippy pouch pile; it didn't start too good...

But I managed to get this for one of the girls, finished just in time...

The sun was so low it was hard to capture the true colours, especially the Kona something-or-other lining, but I expect you all know the Heather Ross FFAIII guitars.

The zipper ends were not as perfect as my last attempt, too bulky, but fine nonetheless.

For those that have asked, I always refer to Kat's tutorial when making up these zippy pouches, purely now for the order to layer the fabric/zip - priceless xxx

Hubby did his bit, helping out at Beavers this evening, and I have just ironed more school polo shirts than I care to remember.

Now for another evening of teacher-related Christmas makes, with a little Kirstie's Handmade Christmas and CSI for balance...

  10. Why do they do that? Mine took it in turns to fall ill for THREE weeks - did give me more sewing time though! :)

    Cute pouch!

    Managed a trip to the bead shop en route to school to pick up youngest early! Result!

  12. Ruh-Roh Shaggy. Was that a case of needle meets metal zipper stop? I've broken a zillion needles and it scares the crap out of me every time. Pouch looks great in the end. I'll check out Kat's tute. I think I've seen it before, but one can never get enough advice on those pesky zipper ends.

  16. I'm exhausted from catching up with your posts! I love the monster (MM was my plane reading, but I can't do any monster making as I've not got the felt here) and the zippy pouches have come up really well. Very inconsiderate of poorly twin to recover! Interesting shaped needles you are buying these days, LOL

  17. Glad twin is much better...I had the same thing with Z. Cried all night with a painful ear leaving us all groggy and then jumped out of bed for school. You are a wonder with the pouches Mrs. G!

  19. {You iron polos? - first thought straight out of my head.}
    Love your pouch and the lining color makes me want to go to the fabric store. I really want to go to the fabric store when I clicked over to Kat's zipper pouch tutorial and saw her bright green lining. I need to revisit my dearth of solid colors in my fabric stash.

  20. Sad to hear kiddies are ill - such a difficult time - but you seem to be rising above it all and still making goodies.
