First here is my finish for the Duo Quiltalong...
Now it's pretty difficult to see my magnificent stitchery, as I went 'subtle' on my first attempt at hand quilting, but if you look closely, you might be able to see!
Boring or brilliant? I love it! |
I am surprised how good it all looks together; I think the scrutinising of every FMQ curve (or otherwise) and concentrating on the length of each individual stitch (some too big, others too small), convinced me it would look like a disaster. But one step back, taking a look from a more natural distance, and it actually works.
Thank you Rachel and Rhonda for pointing me in the right direction - as ever, I took a few short cuts/liberties, but ended up with a lovely little runner that I would not have made without them.
Finish number two, was one of Ayumi's Christmas Baskets. This is a great pattern, one of those featured in Jennifer's brilliant 12 Gifts of Christmas Tutorial series.
I made this with more 1001 Peeps to match the runner. Maybe it will get filled with cutlery, but more likely chocolates!
I love to have finishes, and I love to have ticks, but I especially love to have things that we are going to keep and use...
Now back to the felt parliament!
The runner is such fun and so is the little box.
ReplyDeleteVery cool, and I vote for chocolates in the box... :oD
ReplyDeleteLovely finishes Hads, cant wait to get a finish of my own... Your stitching is looking good, next time you'll be a pro I'm sure!
ReplyDeletethey look great and I am sure they will get loads of use. The fmq'ing looks fab
ReplyDeleteLove the finishes and also love that before I ever did any handquilting I did a 'proper' hand quilting course with a brilliant teacher who told me never look at individual stitches, always look at the over all effect. I think your runner is brilliant and like that you did a matching choccie basket. Off you go and fill it up then!
ReplyDeleteLOL Great finishes! Great FMQ'ing AND hand quilting! Now do as Susan says, go fill that cute basket with chocolates, and take a load off whilst you play with the felt parliament!
ReplyDeleteGreat finishes! You'll get the hang of FMQ, for a first time it looks totally spiffing though!
ReplyDeleteawesome hand stitching! i just tried it for the first time on my tablerunner too.. great minds think alike!
ReplyDeleteThe FMQ looks great - you're never going to be scrutinising it quite as closely in real life as you are when you're in the middle of it and in a couple of weeks you won't be able to find the stitches you weren't happy with! Enjoy the felt!
ReplyDeleteGreat work on FMQ and handstitching! I think I have an advantage on looking at my work - bit blurry without the glasses so it all looks good enough! But standing back will do the trick just as well! Or a glass or two of wine!
ReplyDeleteLove the matching peeps set!
Love that runner!
ReplyDeleteYay for finishes!!
ReplyDeleteThat's a gorgeous wee set. All you need now are the placemats! Jxo
ReplyDeleteYay! Your runner looks fabulous, thanks for playing along! And the little matching basket is super sweet too, I think it will look great filled with choccies!
ReplyDeleteR x
This set reminds me of panto! fun!
ReplyDeleteA step back is always important. Especially after a good washing. Makes all the difference in FMQ. Your project is great. Is it a gift for someone or are you keeping this one? I can't remember.
ReplyDeleteGreat finishes! I love that fabric, and yes you should fill it with chocolate!!
ReplyDeleteLove your Peeps' finishes Hadley - you always have lovely makes!
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful and I love your quilting.
ReplyDeleteYour quilting looks great on these - love the runner and love the little basket. Nicely done my friend :-)
ReplyDeleteYour table runner is lovely and I'm so glad that you are pleased with it, too. The basket is great, too. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteYou have been producing such cute things! It's a great idea to make the to-make list page on the blog! A great reminder!
