Today I met up with Benta of SLIKstitches at the Parham House 'Stitches In Time' show.
It was really fun, and proves how you really can be friends with someone you have never met before, and carry on as if you really have been friends for a long time.
We swapped gifts - she was the recipient of the brooch I made a few days back, and I am now the lucky owner of ...
The younger FBs also came away with some great goodies, Benta sneakily pre-posted about them here, when she knew I would already be out of the house! They are being loved as I type - thank you so much from the small folk too!
We wandered round the stately home, admiring, and sometimes otherwise, the tapestries, needlework and collections on display; we tried not to put off the nice old ladies making lace and obviously had to do a little spending, imagine how rude it would have been not to...
Jenny Adin-Christie parted me from my money, but I don't mind.
The rain stopped in time for us to wander round the gardens for a hour, having previously spent some lovely time in the tea room, chatting with a weaver-turned-quilter, whose first quilt Benta and her daughter had been admiring in Greenwich earlier this week - it was all a bit spooky!
So that was my great day - no photos - too busy talking, and you've seen me already! (Still just a little bit intreagued at what you guys actually thought I looked like after yesterday!).
Now you must excuse me, I have to mentally prepare myself for going back to work tomorrow after 6 weeks off...
That sounds like a grand day out - it must be weird meeting virtual folks for real alost like seeing pics of folk you just imagined before.........
ReplyDeleteOk, well I was actually more intrigued what you were doing in the photo more than what you looked like.
ReplyDeleteI'm also intrigued by your spelling of intrigued ;-)
Sounds like a great day and going back to work? Boo! Hope you have a great day...
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great day out and fun to meet up with bloggers. Hope work goes well, I go back on Tuesday and you are right it takes a bit of preparing for after being off for 6 weeks!
ReplyDeleteI had pictured you with dark hair for some reason (must be the owl!). Hope it's not too much of a shock tomorrow! Jxo
ReplyDeleteSounds like lots of fun. I've twice taken myself across the Atlantic and visted a ton of online buddies - we were all fine about it, but several husbands apparently were a tad concerned I might be an axe-murderer ;o) You obviously did the sensible first date thing, meeting in public lol
ReplyDeleteLike Judith I'd imagined you as a brunette because of the owl too!
Sounds like a great day out :-) Its hard to comment on what I actually thought you looked like - amazingly that's exactly how I pictured your hair, except I imagined it dark brown. Weird huh. Also, in my head you've kinda got a Katherine Hepburn wicked grin. Which you might still do, you looked in deep concentration in that pic!
ReplyDeleteHa ha! I've just got back from a weekend away to see this post, and was about to comment "Where's the photo of your bloggy meet up?!" when I realised you had at least published a picture of yourself, exactly as I thought only serious! :)
ReplyDeletesounds like a great day out. I am also back at work tomorrow after 6 weeks off: where did the time go!!
ReplyDeleteYou are much quicker off the blogging mark than me! Thank you for a great day, it was great to meet up, and while we can teach our kids not to meet people from chatrooms, it was such fun to break the rules! Great company, lovely venue, and even shopping ... Not even spoiled by the rain!
ReplyDeleteIt's great to make that real life connection by meeting! happy memories to get you through the first few days back at work!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm on the brunette bandwagon too! Mind you probably are, you can tell the truth!!!
ReplyDeleteI too thought you were brunette - how funny!? Is the show still on at Parham? Or have I missed it? Bad luck on the work thing....
ReplyDeletehow fun to meet a virtual friend in real life. i have made some really great people via the blogging world and am so happy about it and look so forward to meeting them in real life someday.
ReplyDeleteThat's so cool! I'm glad you had such a great day together :)
ReplyDeleteMeeting bloggy friends in person is fabulous! I have not been disappointed.
ReplyDeleteFor a second I thought you said you were the "winner" of, not "owner" of the mug rug. I was going to say man, I skip a few days of blog reading and I really miss out! :) The mug rug is pretty. Wish I could have met you both, too.
