I have been pondering my swap makery for FQR 2014 and wondering where everyone has gone!
Trash has been trying to rally the troops with the name tag and sample swaps on flickr, but it all seems awfully quiet.
I know many of my partners in crime will be missing this year, sob, but, c'mon!
Day tickets are now available for the Saturday, the super-duper class lists have been released, and promises of a more intimate weekender than last year's scorching craziness, but not this intimate, surely?!
Anywho, I have made progress with my swapsies today, I also mailed off an extra-curicular name tag, which I will show you when the recipient has received it.
I have also been sketching...
... and cutting, and wondering if making a couple of dozen, limited edition, super-souvenir key fobs is in order.
But now it's Jack Bauer time, so I'm off, dammit xx
It will be so weird not being there. While you are getting stuck into classes I will be on a ferry on Saturday somewhere between the uk and holland. I know you will still have a brilliant time though. And we've got October.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how many people are not going this year! I'm sort of tempted by the day ticket...but cramming it all in one day would probably kill me!
ReplyDeleteAh takes me back to last year's head scratching name tag making! Relying on you to give us the full post- retreat autopsy!
ReplyDeleteBeen pondering the day ticket thing but really not sure, it's a lot for a day on top of train travel. In guess I'll
ReplyDeleteHave to enjoy it all virtually.
I'll be there, so if you get desperate you can always hang out with me.....!!! Must admit that since Flickr's gone all weird on the phone with Yahoo logins (curses!) I'm not checking in to flickr as much. Must try harder! And your key fobs look v exciting :) x
ReplyDeleteI'm going, but it's my first year so I'm generally petrified of joining in when everyone seems so accomplished. I'll be the quiet one hiding in the corner!
ReplyDeleteHiding in the corner? Bwahahahaha not for long my girl, we will have you dancing on tables quick as a wink. I have form, just ask Lucy Locket (I so never stood on the table, just the bench).
DeleteUnless you actually really do want to sit quietly and then we shall come hang out quietly with you, handsewing and gently chatting.
Unfortunately I think everyone is slowly abandoning Flickr for things like Instagram.... I know I'm not on Flickr nearly as much anymore....or maybe it is just because it is the summer.
ReplyDeleteThe hashtagon Instagram is FQR14.
DeleteI won't be going either this year. I think Flickr must have hit the self destruct button - they're making it harder not easier
ReplyDeleteI'll (hopefully) be there! got ticket and accommodation sorted. Holding out on the swaps for now as my mum just passed away and I want to see how much time I have left when I get back as there are bee blocks to do which people are waiting for first, which is only fair I do them as soon as I get some time... then I hope I can join some swaps and things. fingers crossed!!
ReplyDeleteSomehow we always seem yo be on holiday for the FQR. Gutted and desperate to come along . Feels like the whole community has gone to sleep actually . So little blog or Flickr activity. Weird I agree!
ReplyDeleteI'm contemplating a day ticket since they announced them, still not sure, but I'm so close it seems silly not to. I can't see what classes are available for the Saturday either which doesn't help. I don't understand the Flickr thing as it is still pretty much the same aside from logins, but then I don't use it on my phone or iPad, which I know has gone weird and hard to use. Hmmmm...
ReplyDeleteI'll be there for Saturday!
ReplyDeleteIt does seem eerily quiet doesn't it...?

ReplyDeleteI thought about the one day thing but really can't even do that without stretching myself too thin, even though the classes look excellent I really must draw the line somewhere :( NEXT year for sure.
ReplyDeleteI'm going, but I have to agree it has been pretty quiet on the buildup!
ReplyDeleteI only signed up to the swaps last week, as you can't see the blinking discussions from the apps, maybe we all need to moan on the Flickr feedback!
I hope you get a few more joining in before the deadline!
ReplyDeleteI'll 100% be there with bells on! I wouldn't miss it for anything. That said, I haven't signed up for swaps, etc. I just can't manage it.
ReplyDeleteAh flickr. I abandoned when they "upgraded" the site. IG has stolen my heart.
have never been, and am on holidays this year but would love to join the fun next year
ReplyDeleteAfter last year's debacle, I decided that I probably shouldn't sign up for swaps.... (plus I really don't have time!) So glad that I can make it though.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed last year but just can't justify the cost this year as we are in the middle of house buying and selling. I'll be watching it all on Instagram, I'm sure you'll all have a great time!
ReplyDeleteI rarely admit it but I am a Jack Bauer fan too!! ( I was so excited to read that comment!). And sadly I am flying out of the UK on the weekend of the retreat but if you do make key fobs I would love to buy one :-)
ReplyDeleteI'll be there (obviously otherwise the classes I am teachign would be a bit pants!). I think one of the problems is the cost doing it every year, you can probably justify it as a one-off or for two years but then it does get really costly if you live outside London. I also agree with all the comments about Flickr, which is such a shame, it was a really integral part of our community until they ruind it, and though I love IG it doesn't have the 'chat in a group' capacity that worked so well in Flickr. But this has been a timely reminder that I need to check our the swap threads on there now!!
ReplyDeleteWish I could be there this year
ReplyDeleteI'll b there and shadowing you in just about every class it seems - or are you shadowing me? Looking forward to seeing you a bit more this year!
