Here are a couple of pics of my Patchwork Please!/Give Me Liberty embroidery pouch as promised...
I have reached a bit of an impasse - the pattern calls for some transparent vinyl for the clear pocket, but where, oh where, do I get any of that??
In an attempt to use what I had on hand, I tried sticking sticky backed plastic to itself, but that is still too thin, and anything else I have, like document wallets and the like, just don't feel right. I ordered a sample from a table covering type company, so we will see what that is like, but I am guessing more plastic bag than I need.
Does anyone know where I can get what is needed in the UK? Should the sample turn out to be the biz, I will let you know, but any ideas please in the meantime.
Talking of meantime, Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day is less than a week away...
... just saying xxx
Lincraft here in Australia have it! How big a piece do you need? I'll send you some!
ReplyDeleteYeah I would like to know where you get that stuff. I've contemplated cutting up a bag thing that the kids blocks live in but that seems a shame!! Lovely lot of bits and bobs you have there :)
ReplyDeleteOh good god, it's giveaway day already! Thanks for the heads up and good luck in the plastic acquisition.
ReplyDeleteI have used clear plastic table cover in the past, want me to send you some? Got it from Dunelm :)
ReplyDeleteI've used the thicker plastic file pockets when I've needed plastic, the ones with the the zip lock closure are best
ReplyDeleteDo you know anyone that has a clear shower curtain and can spare a corner?! Love the pouch!
ReplyDelete{caret} so far! - my fingers seem to be typing faster than my brain is working! (I can't find the caret symbol on my keyboard, sorry!) Oh, for an 'edit' option on blog comments!
DeleteI remember seeing clear vinyl somewhere - look http://sewscrumptious.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/abakhan-challenge-what-can-you-make-for.html can't see it in the abakhan shop though, could ask Louise if she has any left...
ReplyDeletehmmm nice formatting
DeleteThat last photo is so eye catching!
ReplyDeleteUm...thanks for the SMS giveaway day reminder. I totally blanked and would have missed it all together! Thank you.
Dunelm Mills sells it off the roll, that's where I got it.

ReplyDeleteI would probably be recycling one of those see-through shower curtains knowing me! Jxo
ReplyDeleteLove the pouch so far!
ReplyDeletecut what you need from a clear zippy bag that sheets come in. I've got lots of those here, but I'm across the pond from you.
ReplyDeleteWell I have no idea on the clear plastic front but I will await your definitive decision. Di x

ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful patchwork - love the pretty colours in the last pic too!
ReplyDeleteI didn't have a clue what it was until I started reading through the comments. Now I know for if/when I make this myself!
ReplyDeleteWe have a big fabric store chain that sells it for table coverings. I am sure you can find it or order it. I love the progress, maybe you are giving it away? I will enter.
ReplyDeleteLooking gorgeous so far!!!
ReplyDeleteClear shower curtain? I bought one to cover the A to Z wall hanging when it went on its Windsor tour last summer, But now I think it's in my drawer at school. I'm happy to hack off a bit and post it to you, just zap me your address
ReplyDeleteI've found clear vinyl on eBay, I was using it to make a bag filled with Capri Sun pouches quite a long time ago now! I'd imagine you could still get it there now though.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you have options for the vinyl :-) I used to have some, but think it got chucked in a clear out!
ReplyDeleteYour pouch is going to be beautiful! And when did giveaway day get here so fast!!!!!!
It's always the little extras that bog down a project.
ReplyDeleteI have used before part of a zippered pouch that held sheets.
That vinyl is thinner and tends to melt if the iron gets close and it caused major cursing while sewing.
I bought real vinyl from my Portland store - fabric depot --where i could choose different weights. This bought vinyl sewed up better too.
Mine is buried in the garage while the new wood floors go in - otherwise i would send some too.
I can't believe SMS let go of their store parts to concentrate on their blog and giveaway day.
Monday!!!!
Love the patchwork so far. If you need some vinyl I can send you some. Just tell me how much you need. I need to go to Joann's to get some for me too.
ReplyDeleteI bought some from the Remnant House online - it's quite thick(ish!). I'm planning on make a homemade version of a supreme slider with it. (Er, one day....)
ReplyDeleteI'm late commenting, but I bought some clear vinyl from Tiki a while back. Its good thick sturdy stuff
