After going large, with my spur of the moment quilt making session for Siblings Together on Saturday, I thought I better cross something off my To Do List pronto, as it's a very looooooooooooong one for April.
So yesterday, having spent a couple of evenings trying and failing at embroidering the name of my Name Tag swap partner for FQ Retreat, I finally cracked it, (if a 7 year old can read it without a problem, then I'm happy).
All well and good, but I can't show you the name anyway until it has been received later in the month!
I binned off the idea with all the black; I was thinking 'Pearly Kings & Queens' but it just looked miserable, so I went with what makes me happy... Melody Miller!
I was going to say 'here's what my partner will be sporting on June 2nd/3rd', but then I thought that was a bit presumptuous, as it may well get accidentally left at home in the excitement!
Well I love how it turned out, but I won't be wearing it, so I really hope my partner does too!
I went with the lanyard rather than a badge, (because I have a tendency to over-think things, a lot!), and I didn't want my partner's top to be dragged to her knees under the weight of it, (oops, sorry John, not you then!); and I love lanyards, they remind me of cool back-stage passes (and work, hmmm).
OK, I'll shush now, can you tell I'm a bit nervous!?
that is totally gorgeous! I can't even show a hint of mine because the entire thing is a total giveaway. I'm terrified!!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea - I love it! I may have to pinch the necklace/backpass idea!
ReplyDeleteSuper creative and gorgeously executed to boot. Lucky partner!
ReplyDeleteAt least I'm not the only one worried like mad about it. I am thinking of redoing mine, even with the positive comments I got from the ladies at the London MQG meeting.
ReplyDeleteLove the bright colours and the lanyard style is inspired, so much so that I may also have to copy it ;-)
ReplyDeleteAh yes, the 7-year-old reading test, well known in my industry... ;o)
ReplyDeleteIt looks fab though, and love the lanyard idea, may need to think about that too, I'm fearing a bit of a floppy moment!
Very cute! I like the lanyard idea!
ReplyDeleteI was worried about floppy moments too and love your lanyard idea - it`s gorgeous and as it is a MM with a bob, perhaps it`s for me??
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, but don't we have til end May to post them out? Jxo
ReplyDeleteStop worrying, anyone would love it, I sure do. I am totally going to use the lanyard idea as I don't much like the pin kind myself.
ReplyDeletewell, I will be thrilled if its for me! I havn;t started mine yet, better get a move on
ReplyDeleteIt looks fantastic Hadley! I was considering going with a lanyard and I think seeing yours has just made my mind up :)

ReplyDeleteI was too late for the swap so am making my own, and am totally going to steal the lanyard idea! Yours is lovely, lucky partner!
ReplyDeleteNo need to be nervous! ........ will love it!

ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! There was a swap though and I missed it! Dang it! Oh well looks like I'll just have to make my own..=D
ReplyDeleteLOVINg it! I do hope I'm the lucky recipient ;)
ReplyDelete**** no way is my partner getting a lanyard!! This is very cool! Love the fabrics and so much work has obviously gone into it :)
ReplyDeleteHeck yeah, I'd wear that as a piece of jewellery, not just on that weekend, either! Sadly, I'm not in this swapster, so it's not mine...but it's still lovely :) x
ReplyDeleteOoh fabby, who doesnt love Melody miller :-)
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteI think I'm also going with the Lanyard idea. The thought of a brooch scares me. But I may rethink... we'll see...

ReplyDeleteI LOVE IT! It's gorgeous. Just put my name on it and send it over!
ReplyDeleteThe lanyard is a fantastic idea. Well thought through! xx

ReplyDeleteOh I love this lanyard, think I'd feel important wearing this!
ReplyDeleteI wish I was going so that there was a chance it could be mine, but alas I am not and I am still sad about it! I want to meet everyone and hang out!
ReplyDeleteIt's great and the lanyard is a good idea - she's bound to love it!
ReplyDeleteAwwww this is so awesome, I love the lanyard! It totally puts my sketch to shame, I may need to have a rethink :)
