I only have one scrap box, and it contains way too many small and probably rather unusable little offcuts, but it has been getting to the point where it was hazardous and pointless to dive into.
So being the end of the holidays, I had the bright idea of enlisting volunteers for the job...
OK, so they thought sorting into colour order was a brilliant idea, then buggered off pretty quickly after tipping everything all over the floor, but hey, it was a start. I finished up with bags of separate colours and feeling rather tidy and pleased with myself, for about five minutes.
I can't actually find anything in there now!
I have also managed another finish on my FAL list, but that will have to wait until tomorrow for a photocall.
The house is clean, the chocolate has pretty much gone, and summer uniforms are ready in the wardrobe, so here's to a relaxing weekend before going back to the grind x
Oh boo to the hols being over...but just love the sound of summer uniforms, which heralds the end of the school year. Have a lovely weekend and yea for sorted out scraps even if you have absolutely no idea where anything is. The moral of the story? Don`t ever organize.
ReplyDeleteSure the sorted scraps will grow on you. I found mine a tad frustrating after I bagged them all up, but I love it now
ReplyDeleteOh Hadley ... it's like you were in my house with a hidden camera yesterday!
ReplyDeleteI was just taking a break from writing my (really boring) post about how I sorted all my scraps into bags and organised myself to the nth ... and I find that you have done the same. I had no little helpers but chilled to radio drama all day ... It took a ridiculously long time so I hear you.
Yes boo to skool, I think today was the first relaxing day I've had hey ho ... but yay to crisp school uniforms.
xx
Sounds like a lovely day to me! The sorted scraps look delicious though, dont they just beg you to dive in for another scrappy quilt?!
ReplyDeleteDon't you love the attention span of kids? Either way, the bags look fun and like maybe you should make another scrappy something...
ReplyDeleteNext time get the wee ones to do the hoovering and you can play.........
ReplyDeleteForgive me but I am laughing my head off here. Did I hear you say you sorted by colour?!?!?!? HaHaHa!
ReplyDeleteNext time I'll send over my middle one - she loves sorting and organising (except her schoolbag that is). These look lovely and tidy now. Roll on Monday! Jxo
ReplyDeleteI'm shocked to see that you've sorted into colour and you appear to have no brown!!!
ReplyDeleteWell, at least you had help dumping them onto the floor....
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny how when you rock a little bit of your quilty world it seems like it's all upside down? You'll settle in quickly I'm sure :)
There is no such thing as an unusable scrap! Trust me I know!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you sorted them all out though...perhaps I should do the same..
The chocolate is gone! Gasp! =D
I try and keep mine as 2.5" strips, but I also seem to have a drawer of 2", and another of assorted strips, and another of selvedge edges ... Too many!
ReplyDeleteI am happy playing with my scraps - almost prefer it really!
ReplyDeleteThere is something about this time of the year that just makes everyone want to clean and sort.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend.
Well what can you expect..sorting without chocolate?!! Enjoy the weekend!
ReplyDeleteSoon those bags will be too small!
ReplyDeleteone day i want to dump out my scraps and just start randomly sewing until they are all gone! i will probably end up with one big quilt!
ReplyDeleteI have a bunch of those too. And selvedges. And I get to wondering, am I ever going to use them??
ReplyDeleteahhh, children. They are so helpful ;-)
ReplyDeletelol your kids sound like mine!! mine are helpful for 5 mins then get bored! back to school tomorrow here and nursery- yipee x
ReplyDeleteChocolate has gone?!! Wow, that was fast!
ReplyDeleteOooo I tried to get the kids to help me with this a while back...the novelty lasted about...er...10 seconds! that's the sort of task I would have loved as a kid....once a geek, always a geek :) x
