Well nothing that exciting happened yesterday; I finished all the background cutting for My Precious Retro Flowers QAL, and if you have done the same, you will know that cutting all those concave curves takes a long time, especially with an 18mm rotary cutter!
So I am good to go on that, and good to get on with my FQ Retreat swap gifts...
I am going to be making some small pouches from the Zakka Style book...
I have cut all my linen, lining and interfacing, gathered lots of little embellishments, but still need to sort out what exactly I am doing for the main fabric panels on the front...
I am envisaging a cool little collage on each one; we'll have to wait and see if I can get the ideas from my head actually onto fabric successfully!
I tried to do some small cross-stitch last night to add into the mix, but my eyes just weren't up to the job - I really think I need one of those big old-lady light-up magnifiers...
I am pleased to report though, that as part of the 'more organized me' regime, I have started using some plastic trays to store individual WiPs in, and unlike the scrap colour sorting, they are working well!
I imagine the scrap colour sorting is working marvellously - you just need to get used to it. HeeHee!
ReplyDeleteI would love a Zakka style pouch. Get on with it. I know you so I know it will be amazing.
The baskets are just filled with yum. I can't wait to see what you create!
ReplyDeletethose bags are so cute - they would make a great swap item. *covets*
ReplyDeleteWTG on all the cutting, I have to tackle cutting my Retro Flowers at some point this week. I'm slightly dreading it, and I only have 9 flowers' worth to cut!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you come up with for your zippy's! I am waiting on my book...and YAY! for getting ALL of those flowers cut...Woot! :)

ReplyDeleteJeez woman, even your preparations look fabulous....
ReplyDeleteOr you could get a magnifier on a cord but they only work if you have a big chest to perch it on..(and no, I am not speaking from experience, anticipating the flavour of your reply)
ReplyDeletePerhaps just lovely reading glasses would help the late night fine stitching? The preparations look lovely!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure everyone will love those zakka style pouches.
ReplyDeleteI need to get some of those plastic bins to keep my projects organized. Right now they are in piles around the sewing room.
ReplyDeleteCutting that Retro is back breaking, isn't it? I'm only doing a few squares at a time.
Your Zakka swap gifts will be well appreciated.
Ooh, those little pouches look so cute, I can't wait to see what you come up with!
ReplyDeleteNow that you've finished sorting you WIPs can u take a wee jaunt across the pond & sort mine (you'll need lots of baskets....& a duster!!!)
ReplyDeleteHow about Big Ol' Lady glasses instead!! Jxo
ReplyDeleteDoesn`t everyone use the spare bed to store their WiPs??
ReplyDeleteI looked at those retro flowers - golly, I'm impressed! FMQ yesterday, curves today - who are you and what have you done with Hadley?
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see how your makes turn out and whether the askers stay tidy! Di x
ReplyDelete*basket. Blogger keeps jamming on me and it is driving me nuts.
ReplyDeleteLove those fabrics! Wish I was going to the retreat! =D
ReplyDeleteI was thinking, as I saw your baskets, "Gosh Hadley IS organised!!!!" But that'd be the teacher in me, right?? Pretty cross stitch BTW!
ReplyDeleteI'm very impressed with all the organisation you are doing this week. Can't wait to see the finished pouches.
ReplyDeleteI love that pouch! It's one of the next ones I'm going to make from the book. Nice selection of embellishments too and I adore your cross stitching.
ReplyDeleteOh love those colours! These will be gorgeous! I've just started putting WIPs into plastic tubs too, although several haven't got past the stack of fabric stage. Love your cross stitch.
ReplyDeleteLovely stuff once again Hadley. The book looks great.
ReplyDeletei am sure your pouches will be amazing! Is that Zakka book any good?
ReplyDeleteLove your baskets you have inspired me to purchase some! x

I like your idea with the plastic baskets...very helpful! cross stitch is pretty but you are right, it does take its toll on the eyes. I haven't done any in a long time.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the pouches! Good luck with the scrap sorting, it'll be worth it in the end (it took me about three months if that's any consolation?!)
