A Spring In My Step...

I have been making up for the lack of sewing this weekend, by getting the backing of my Orbit quilt pieced, and also my Brit Bee top all sewn together this evening...

I still have 2 names left to embroider into the siggie block, and then I can piece the back for that too.

Does anyone know if I should be worrying that after a wash and tumble, my 3 strand Cosmo floss names are going to look like my kids have attempted embroidery with their eyes closed??

Ideally I would like these two basted on Wednesday, so that I can hopefully aim for one finish over the coming weekend; with all the fun and games of the last few days I could do with a bit of a relax, and a Sunday afternoon stitching down some binding sounds like heaven to me!

I had happy mail to get me in the mood today too; a layer cake of Summersville Spring courtesy of Justine...

I still have my first collection layer cake and a bit of yardage waiting for the perfect project, so I am hoping that my spend to use theory will again pay off and I will be able to stash-bust and make something using both together.  The additional colours are lovely, so time to start trawling for the one.

Did you see Rita's beautiful Having A Starry Time blog hop post today?  I think I am going to have to work on my presentation skills before Friday!!

And as promised, more details on the Sizzix hop...

Katy kicked off today with her 2 Minute Treat bags, then I will be joining these other lovely ladies with Spring and Eastertime makes...

I think that's about it for tonight... crikey, is that the time!

  1. I'm pleased i'm not the only one with Summersville fabric waiting for the perfect project- a combination of the two lines makes sense, so show us the way oh leader! ;o)

  2. Can't wait to see diamond nipples! Jxo

  3. You are super organised in getting the quilts ready for quilting. I think that your embroidered siggy blocks should wash ok too. Di x

  4. Busy, busy busy - do you ever rest?

  5. I like how everyone is onto the claiming thing and putting it somewhere besides first. I love the quilt, I don't know about the embroidery, do a swatch - embroider a little think just the same way, put some batting and a front on it, just zig zag the edges and toss in the machine. If it survives, bind it and call it a mug rug and if not you will know. I have some Summerville Spring to use too and I am looking forward to your day on the hop.

  6. It looks like you had a busy weekend full of lots of different projects and fun.

  7. I've been using Reeder for a number of months now and have found an easy peace with it. I've been assured it'll survive the demise of Google Reader but it's Mac/iOS only so I can only recommend it to so many people… Haven't decided what I want to do about the lovin'. I hate signing up for things, especially ones I don't use, which is why I'm not on Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest. Blurgh! We should start a rage against things… :-)

  8. Sounds like a great weekend planned - have fun xxx

  9. Love the quilt in your first photo- yummy colours!

  10. You are so organised Hadley - could you send some of your organising mojo my way please! :-)
You could try ironing on a very lightweight fusible interfacing to the wrong side of the embroidered parts - it would help to hold everything in place and not distort in the washer/dryer. And being lightweight it shouldn't make any noticeable difference to those sections.

  11. I'm looking forward to seeing your bee quilt and second both Sadie and Leanne about the embroidery. It should be fine but I'd check with a small sample plus interfacing first!

  12. I love the colors in that first photo - makes me wanna go straight home and pull all the oranges, pinks and greys in my stash and start sewing........... Can I just quit work and do that?

  13. It does seem like the world will end, doesn't it? Do I have to jump on this claiming thing too? Might as well...

  14. Oh you are going to have such fun plotting and scheming how to use your new and old layer cakes :)
