A 'world' day, that it seems no-one outside of the UK knows about, is pretty random in itself, but these backgrounds, chosen by the individuals pictured, are pretty out there...
Today they donned their gladrags and made the most of the sunny weather...
Year 5's theme was JK Rowling, and Year 3 had Julia Donaldson. I think they looked great.
We love the books from Julia. You did such a great job making the dresses. I would love if they did it here as well! But we bought books for book day so lets go reading....
We have Book Day here - but its in August here. Also, the school where the grand kids go, don't do themes, they just pick a favourite character. The costumes look great!
I love the idea of World Book Day and your kids look great...well done! Our twins dressed as Almond Flower Fairies and took a walk with their class to Waterstones to buy a book :)
They look fabulous! Our school did it today and as they where having an author in who has written a Viking book, they asked if the children would dress as vikings not any character they wanted! So my 8yo son has gone on a sulk and went in, in his uniform!!
oh my that Prof Quirrel turban is inspired! Well done you! Our world book day morning ended as usual in a fancy dress melt down en route to school! someones costume is always too itchy/long/not quite right isn't it and with 3 kids i guess it's decent odds that someone will loose it each year!
They do look great! And in our school. because Year 6 are ALWAYS on their LEV on World Book day - ours is always 2 weeks later - they've renamed it book character day lol!
We know about world book day in Australia, but don't do a dress up for it every year. It's too much work for the parents! Last year my daughters class dressed up to the theme heroes and villains.
They look amazing! And I love their clever backgrounds.
ReplyDeleteIndeed they do look great...The chair with the different backgrounds look out of this world.

ReplyDeleteThey look great!! Glad they had their own armchairs and it wasn't a squash and a squeeze!
ReplyDeleteHa, crazy backgrounds, love it!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad our school opted out again this year - are there any parents who need more stress?
ReplyDeleteGreat backgrounds. Yes, I was totally unaware of world book day! Did you celebrate Pancake Day on Tuesday?
ReplyDeleteI wish our schools did this. This is so fun to see all my UK friends posting photos of their kids in costume of their favorite book character
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I am going to try to remember this for my school next year

ReplyDeleteI have this all to look forward to to! They looked brilliant. I love their inspired choice of backgrounds!
ReplyDeleteLove the backgrounds, and great costume creations !
ReplyDeleteBrilliant costumes, and I love the cupcake background!
ReplyDeletesuch a good idea to give them a theme. I hate the open-endedness of it otherwise. Argh!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Charlotte, a theme was a good idea. And the costumes looked fab! Hope they had a great day.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't have book day in the States. Not sure what I would have gone as...will have to think about that!
ReplyDeleteThey look amazing! Do you think 'world' book day is like the baseball 'world series - only one country involved?!!
