Random, or maybe not!

At Christmas my dad gave me a CD/DVD of lots of old photos he'd scanned, from my grandfather as a baby, right up until I was pregnant with dear son, so there has been a lot of laughing, grimacing and reminiscing!

Last week I showed you one of those pics and you all commented on the likeness of the girls to my sister and I as Brownies.

When I showed them the picture below, they took some convincing that it wasn't them, despite the 1970s velour roll-necks and having no memory of it being taken!

I know I am not the only one to have created a mini-me, or two, and genetics really aren't that random, but I thought I'd link up with the Randomeers anyway.

In sewing news, Harry Potter II got his floral backside on this afternoon, so I'll give you a full reveal of that tomorrow.

  1. The power of genetics with our little ones always amazes me, I could have sworn that was your girls too! :o)

  2. I'm fascinated by genetics too! My two are complete opposites, one blond and blue eyed, one dark hair and eyes, and look nothing alike, but when they are with all their cousins, you can tell they all belong to the same family! Your photos are spookily similar lol!

  3. I have a son who has some definite genetic markers, from both me and my husband. What's interesting is to see some of the same things in the next generation too!

  4. I totally thought that was your girls from the thumbnail! I have my own mini-me (in looks and character) but still think it's amazing when you see someone's offspring look so similar.

  5. My granddaughter Sophie is the mirror image of my daughter Sarah (her mum). We compare photos of Sarah growing up with photos of Sophie at the same ages and they are just so alike. The only difference now is the hairstyle as Sarah refuses to cut Sophie's hair into the 'pudding basin' cut that she endured in the seventies!

  6. The resemblance is outstanding no wonder you had trouble convincing the girls. And now we know who wears the genes in your family.

  7. Wow! No wonder the girls didn't believe you. They must think you photoshopped them into the velour jumpers. Amazing!

  8. Ha, your husband didn't get a look in, did he? I've definitely not got any mini-mes though!

  9. Very fun. The closest thing I have to having a mini-me is a niece! She looks very much like me - more than my own daughter dear.

  10. What a great gift from your dad! I'm slowly scanning photos so we have electronic copies, so I might copy his idea (eventually!)

  11. I thought that was a photo of your girls. One day I'll show you my daughter. It's scary.

  13. One year I saw what I thought was a black and white picture of myself with a haircut I never remembered having. Yep, not me-it was my mum.

  14. They do sure look like the two of you. My kids are a number of years apart but their baby pictures could be interchangeable, which is also interesting. They look quite different now.

    More spooky genes!

  16. Wow, so alike! Jenny, my eldest, always complains she doesn't look like anyone in the family. Just before Christmas we were on the tube and a random stranger said it was easy to see were we mother and daughter. Made her day!

  17. My goodness I would have thought they were your girls. My 2 big kids were so alike as babies it is hard to tell their baby photos apart, and so different now.

  18. I have a mini me in my daughter too. It's funny the things that are the same, for example teeth. Hers look exactly like mine did at 10, before I got braces on mine.
