As you may have gathered, I am all about the secret sewing right now, and I know how much of a bore that can be until the grand reveal or two. So to make it up to you, here's a rare treat, c.1980, to start your weekend with a smile...
Got to love a bobble hat!! |
Those were the days xxx
Wow, your girls really look like you when you were little, I would have sworn that was one of them in the photo!!
ReplyDeleteYou didn't even like getting your picture taken back then either?! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI remember the awful brown dress, the belt (with the little coin purse on it!) and the tie thing but I really, really don't remember the bobble hats - they must have got rid of them by the time I jumped over the toadstool! I hadn't realised how strong the resemblance is between you and your girls!!
ReplyDeleteAha! The beginning of your hatred of brown right here? You look just like your girls' older sister.
ReplyDeleteHahaha, I spotted you without the arrow! Oh how I hated brownies! No I will not jump over the f-ing toadstool! Needless to say I didn't last long ;)
ReplyDeleteI am going to laugh all night long after reading this comment!! ROTFLOL
DeleteHa ha, that takes me back. I remember my uniform like that too. Can't believe how alike your girls are to you at that age!!
ReplyDeleteI remember loving my brownie uniform as a child. Over here our colours were brown and orange. Looking back it was hideous, but hey it's all about the fun.
ReplyDeleteYou haven't changed a bit :-)
ReplyDeleteThose bobble hats were the pits!! I joined in '81 - I was a Sprite. Still have my badges!
ReplyDeleteYour girls look so like you. In my day it was berets! Di x
ReplyDeletePoo brown dresses! I was so glad that I had a "new" uniform when the older brownies still had to wear those!
ReplyDeleteWe had berets too! I remember being fascinated by my coin purse. My eldest just started at Brownies and so far it seems like they do an awful lot of running around playing tig. The new uniform is definitely funkier than our old get-up!
ReplyDeleteAh I remember them well! Your girls look just like you and your sis! Jxo
ReplyDeleteHee hee, I had the hideous brown dress, but no hat. Thankfully by the time I reached guides they'd gone for the sweatshirt options!
ReplyDeleteYou have not given birth to twins but spawned clones. Thanks for sharing the cute remember when photos.
ReplyDeleteOh god, I remember that uniform only too well (although I think they had done away with the hats by the time I got there)

ReplyDeleteLiked having your photo taken back then too?
ReplyDeleteHaha, I didn't stick at brownies long enough to be in any group photos, but I too had that dress and belt, but no hat! ( and I'm older than you, so they must have introduced the beanie hat after I left, I may have had a beret, I'll have to ask mum)
ReplyDeleteGod, I hated that uniform!! You got a lot of badges though, I think I only managed one! Hope the girls enjoyed themselves xxx
ReplyDeleteYou didn't look terribly happy to be there Hadley ;-)
ReplyDeleteBrilliant photo! Sounds like the girls had a great time. Those bloody hats were awful! XXX
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh...flash back, I too was a Brownie..I may have looked a bit happier than you though.
ReplyDeleteLove your sister's braids! You look a bit serious... I did the whole brownie/Girl Scouts thing too as did my girls. It's a good thing.
ReplyDeleteI always thought those brown tunics were great. The guide wool skirts were so heavy .
ReplyDeleteThe current brownie uniforms are cool though
Wow, your twins are just like you! Dad didn't really get a look in at all. Was never a brownie but don't like brown either.
