Friday Treat!

The girls started Brownies this evening, and loved it; I didn't snap any photos yet, as they are still in Rainbows attire until they are enrolled/invested, so that's something to look forward to.

As you may have gathered, I am all about the secret sewing right now, and I know how much of a bore that can be until the grand reveal or two.  So to make it up to you, here's a rare treat, c.1980, to start your weekend with a smile...

Got to love a bobble hat!!

Those were the days xxx

  3. I remember the awful brown dress, the belt (with the little coin purse on it!) and the tie thing but I really, really don't remember the bobble hats - they must have got rid of them by the time I jumped over the toadstool! I hadn't realised how strong the resemblance is between you and your girls!!

  4. Aha! The beginning of your hatred of brown right here? You look just like your girls' older sister.

  7. I remember loving my brownie uniform as a child. Over here our colours were brown and orange. Looking back it was hideous, but hey it's all about the fun.

  11. Poo brown dresses! I was so glad that I had a "new" uniform when the older brownies still had to wear those!

  12. We had berets too! I remember being fascinated by my coin purse. My eldest just started at Brownies and so far it seems like they do an awful lot of running around playing tig. The new uniform is definitely funkier than our old get-up!

  14. Hee hee, I had the hideous brown dress, but no hat. Thankfully by the time I reached guides they'd gone for the sweatshirt options!

  16. Oh god, I remember that uniform only too well (although I think they had done away with the hats by the time I got there)

  19. Haha, I didn't stick at brownies long enough to be in any group photos, but I too had that dress and belt, but no hat! ( and I'm older than you, so they must have introduced the beanie hat after I left, I may have had a beret, I'll have to ask mum)

  24. Love your sister's braids! You look a bit serious... I did the whole brownie/Girl Scouts thing too as did my girls. It's a good thing.

  25. I always thought those brown tunics were great. The guide wool skirts were so heavy .
The current brownie uniforms are cool though

  26. Wow, your twins are just like you! Dad didn't really get a look in at all. Was never a brownie but don't like brown either.
