Game Over!

I have been tagged at least 4 times, so I picked out some of the questions, and tried to sound just a little bit interesting!  I am not playing by the rules, I haven't got the stamina, sorry folks!

Katy – The Littlest Thistle
What is your favourite book ever?
The Hotel New Hampshire by John Irving, or everything by Douglas Coupland or Janet Evanovich.

I've come round for dinner - I don't like fish, lamb or avocados, and am deathly allergic to bananas and kiwi fruit, so what are you making me? (and no Susan and Hadley, you are not meant to be trying to kill me ;o) )
I wouldn't be poisoning you on purpose!  You'd get the same as everyone else, chilli, and if you ate it all nicely, you might get some ice cream or watermelon for pudding!

I've won the lottery and I'm buying all my friends one special gift, what would you like?
Oh congratulations; I'd like the rental paid on a little studio, maybe one of those farm units that rent space.  Somewhere I could call my own, spread out and sew in peace.  But then I could also lock the door, come home and have full-on family time.  Thank you x

You have a day to spend with anyone you like in the world, who would it be?
Apart from my husband, or close family, I would like to spend a day with Kirstie Allsopp; I don't care what we would be doing, crafting, looking at houses, teasing Phil; the woman is amazing!

Karen - Lisnaweary Quilts
What is your most treasured possession?
My wedding, engagement and eternity rings, and our wedding photo album.

What was your favourite subject at school?
Maths, Statistics and Geography.

Who is your favourite singer/group?
Of all time, REM, playing on my iPod, Gotye; who I’d want to come round for a BBQ?  The Foo Fighters!

Sarah – Narcoleptic In A Cupboard
Who did you blame for your last public fart?
I don’t fart in public, how very dare you, but at home, it’s usually one of the teddies!

Who is your Dr. (who)?
Tennant 100%

If you don the ruby slippers and click your heels etc, where you gonna end up?
In Spotlight with my sister in Wellington!

What was the last thing that totally grossed you out?
Picking pasta puke off the kids’ sheets!  You asked!

Toni – Hoosier Toni
How did you meet your current partner/ love interest?
At work – an office romance!

If you had to pick a favorite quilt, which one would it be?
My Constellation is still up there, for now; however I am planning a FMF one at some point, and that may tip the love, but only for the fabric, mentally the Constellation might not be beaten – well, not until next years!!

Do you have any pet peeves that you don't mind sharing?
I don’t suffer fools, and can be very impatient; I am stretched to my limit at work when people just ‘don’t get it’ and I have to keep a smiley face, and explain, again, for the 5th time!

So now, because I do not believe for one second that I am the only one who wants to get off the computer and get on with some sewing, two questions for you all…

What would you send your kids back inside to save from a fire…your quilts or stash?
You get seriously under-charged for some fabric in store, do you speak up?

Playtime over x

  1. You don't send the kids back in! You send the husband and make sure he gets the whole lot. The kids would be too busy going for their soft toys.

I guess it depends which fabric shop. Some have pissed me off and I might be tempted to scarper with the cheap fabric. That being said, a once had a boyfriend whack the back of my head in Boots when I informed the cashier my purchases couldn't possibly be the amount she said because one of the items alone was worth more than that. I might be more honest than I would like to make out!

  2. I may have to wimp out of tag too and I`ve only been tagged twice. Going to check out your book recommendations after answering quilts for your 1st question and yes for the second. Sorry for such a dull comment.

  3. No I would just have to buy all new on the insurance! Yum!

I say thank you very much for the lovely fabric at that great price!

  4. The stash and it depends on whether the staff were up there own bottoms :)

  5. I never put you down as a Kirsty fan! Stunning wedding pic! You look like a model out of a glossy mag! Mr Pfaff would probably be saved before the kids! Probably quilts next, then stash! I'm too honest and bad at lying that my red face would already be giving me away if I was undercharged! Jxo

  6. In a fire? Scrapbooks then quilts ("leave the silver, save my photographs") and I have uttered "are you sure?" too often to deny being honest at the checkout. Apart from in Tesco where my morals are mysteriously left in the carpark!

  7. I go off for a few days hols, and return to a virtual game of IT that's sweeping bloggy land like a tornado, causing bloggers to reveal unlikely facts about themselves! Love the wedding pic, Hads, and also the pasta puke comment which does make me heave slightly, like the time when I caught a poo that Felix was about to do in the bath -eeuuugghh)

As for being honest, yep I generally say " Have you included x, or is that right, it sounds cheap?!" but I have failed once or twice when faced with a large conglomerate, exorbitant prices or terrible service!

  8. ooh, fun to read your answers. I'd have to send my husband back to get my quilts, and then buy all new stash. I keep trying to get a separate "rider" on my house insurance policy. They do it for computers and jewelry. pfffft. I want the extra coverage on my fabric!

  9. Kirstie! Yay! i'm a fan too! She's amazing!

  10. Oh, I'd save quilts and graciously accept the discounted fabric!

  11. yes to quilts and yes to discounted fabric- pay and get out as fast as you can!
    loved your answers Hadley.

  12. i would send my neighbor in for the quilts... the fabric would be toast since it is upstairs in the bonus room... and i would pipe up, and wish i hadn't later...

  13. I think I'd save the cats over the quilts... I'd like to say I would, but the pile of FMF might get saved first..

And screw all these honest peeps, if they make a mistake it's so their problem. I would consider it a reward for shopping there so often!

  14. Such difficult questions - I now know that only the people matter - so not go back into danger for anything - sod belongings.
The wedding pics are great - you look stunning.
Oh and by the way I am 100% honest.
    xx

  15. I don't think my 4 kids could carry my stash! and as for the quilts.. best to wait for a fit fireman! I think if a shop ever undercharged me I would fess up.

  16. I am sad to say that I would not save my fabric first, I would save my photos. Having said that, my fabric is in a completely separate building to my house so in that case I have one child for the quilts and one for the fabric and "don't stop until you have saved it all, including the scraps that I dropped on the floor today!!" :D

In regards to the cheap fabric I am glad that others have said it before because I too say it depends on the shop and staff and the day. If I am having a good day, the staff have been nice and helpful and the shop is a pleasant place to shop I would definitely say something but if I just want to get home and the staff have been unhelpful or rude then I would walk out.
If the shop is poorly staff and I have been given 'the look' in regards to my children then NO NO NO!!! Next time check your attitude at the door and I might be more inclined to be honest!

  17. Well done on answering your tag questions!
There's no way I'd send Archie back in for my quilts/stash, he'd be going back in for my hexies!!
    I'd speak up!

  18. I bowed out of tag, too. I am so far behind in writing, I owe my blog at least 5 posts. To answer your questions...Well in a fire i would save my photos first, then my stash, because the really nice quilts I give away to friends and family.
#2 I was raised Catholic...that should answer your guilt question. But, yes, I would speak up and say I was undercharged.
If you make a FMF Constellation quilt, will you please have a QAL because that would be awesome!

  19. In a fire, the lot can go up in smoke, as long as my family is ok,

I am an inveterate confesser, if I have been under or overcharged. Everyone makes mistakes, even me, and it is not fair(to not speak up) when fabric shops seem to be a disappearing entity. And I like to sleep at night.

  20. I have no kids, so I'd borrow yours, as you have spares... ;o)

Uh, yeah, I'm with depends on the staff and shop!
