I made my Mum's Mother's Day leaf last night; I didn't paper piece this one, just joined some strips and used Leila's template to cut the leaf shape; I am not sure if it was quicker or not, as I had the fabrics ready and that cut down the faffing about no end...
She got an extra mini leaf too, but I didn't get it in the pictures; it was one of those brilliantly sunny afternoons where you had to point the camera and hope the subject was in the frame as the screen just looked black. Definitely not complaining!
I didn't get much further, or better at the crochet it has to be said. It's my left index finger that isn't doing what it should, but I will suss it! I need a friendly granny to come and poke it where it is meant to be; I think there's one that waits at ballet, so I might have to look all forlorn and see if she takes pity on me.
Tonight though, I take on the flying geese!
Great bamboo and leaves! Good luck with the geese!
ReplyDeleteCan't tell that one leaf was paper pieced the other not. Crochet just falls into place and then you can practically do it without looking. But find your friendly granny, they are always handy for this kind of thing. She will either help or look at you as if you are mad!
ReplyDeleteLove your leaves! Your mom will too! I wish I could be your granny! I would happily teach you a little crochet. I can crochet granny squares and scarves....and that's it!
ReplyDeleteLove the leaves! Good luck with the crochet - before you know it you'll be doing it automatically. Hope the granny is nice!
ReplyDeleteYour leaves are looking great! I'm sure they will be well received. And good luck with the crochet. Do your best to look pitiful!
ReplyDeleteThe leaves look great! Good luck with the finger!!

ReplyDeleteKidnapping grannies next? I don't know what we're going to do with you!! Jxo
ReplyDeleteOh my, as long as you don't shoot your mum as you had these over, just go with the eating... BTW, in Edinburgh on Saturday we saw the most hysterical panda bus, wish I could have taken a photo, but we were driving...
ReplyDeleteprinted off the geese doing it later in the week !! the leaves are lovely i am sure your mum will love them !!
ReplyDeletelove the little bird!
ReplyDeleteOk, just keep at the crochet, it gets easier. Make the hook do the work, not the wool!
ReplyDeleteLove the leaves.

ReplyDeleteGood luck with the crochet, hope your finger works as it should.
flying geese - i'll be attempting these later this week, can't wait to see how yours goes!
ReplyDeleteThe little leaves are so cute, and your garden is wonderful, all spring like. Good luck with the geese, I was playing around with a similar version this weekend.
