Remember, remember...

It's November, so that means it's 'my' month in Brit Bee.

I bought a couple of Just Wing It layer cakes ages with a Moda Bakeshop pattern in mind.

By the time I started thinking about what extra yardage I was going to need, I had actually gone right off the original pattern, but was determined to use the layer cakes, so I had to find a suitable 'replacement'.

Well it was probably about 2 seconds later that I decided to check my 'copy' of Fat Quarterly 5 - Pre Cuts, and 3 seconds after that, that I revisited Katy Jones' stunning Constellation quilt!  Bingo!

At the same time Katy was revamping the pattern and we got chatting - one of the Bee (Fi, that's you!) was in on some of the emails unbeknownst to her, that Katy had helped me hatch a plan for my big blocks!

So I have asked the 'hive' to make me one 24.5" block, rather than 2 regular 12.5"blocks, (OK it adds up to 4 blocks, but don't tell!).

Here's the artist's (aka dear hubby's) impression...

And here is my block, I had to ensure I had counted the right number of charms I needed to cut by hand; ie. 11 x lots!

I packaged them up in a small fabric tray each, like I explained to the ladies, if I am dieting, then so are they, so no sweeties in my packages!

So on the second of November, 2 are already finished and appear in the flickr pool!  How exciting is that?!  I know I have been making blocks for others over the last 6 months, but I never knew quite how brilliant it was going to feel having my chosen blocks made!

The plan is to have 9 stars on one side (3x3) and 3 on the diagonal on the other, with siggy blocks turned into smaller stars!

You can be sure I am going to keep you up to date with this!  Go Brit Bee!!!

  3. I am sure this is almost what I just did as a block for Laura - Miss October. Other than doing a 12.5" block for her. So I have all the practice in that I need for my HSTs now!

  11. Apparently its not the size that counts but what you do with it... and your idea seems fab! I wouldn't worry about sneaking "4" blocks out of us, it took me less time than one of Trudi, or Sarah's....
