Last night I successfully made two more baubles for teachers...
...but this evening I have had a few fails when trying to sew felt with my machine - I think perhaps, well no perhaps about it really, that small circles just aren't going to turn out nicely, which is a shame.
I had more 'sophisticated' aspirations, but I think I am destined to dwell in the truly 'handmade' zone this Christmas. Oh well, back to the drawing board.
In happier news, I have just made part of my Brit Bee Secret Santa gift - and it's a corker; I wish I could show you, but the rules say 'not yet'... I am resisting the temptation to keep it, I really am, but the great thing is, I still could, and you'd never know!
You tease! What have you been making?
ReplyDeleteYay for finishing the baubles, sorry your machine has drawn the line at balls though!
ReplyDeleteAs for the gift, if I'm not in the swap can I get a sneak peek? ;o)
Oh, me too, I could have a sneaky look too.........
ReplyDeleteI am loving your felt creations!!! Are they quite relaxing to do? I could use me some relaxation right about now! And some felt, obviously...doh!
ReplyDeleteCute! And Susan nailed it. You are a tease!
ReplyDeleteThose are super cute!
ReplyDeleteFelt is such an easy material to work with - I recently went to a craft day and learned how to make felt brooches - I loved the fact that you could slump on a sofa with a glass of wine, the TV on, the family around you, and still be making something - same for knitting and crochet! Lucky teachers! Annabelle x
ReplyDeleteSmall circles are difficult on the machine, lots of fabric turning, and they start to look like octagons, or decagons rather than circles, at least felt is lovely to sew by hand!b these are looking great.
ReplyDeleteYour baubles are sooo cute.
ReplyDeleteYou're such a tease! Did you try fmq the circles on felt? Just an idea. Jxo
ReplyDeleteBrit Bee has sounded like so much fun to those of us not in it! And yes have you tried what Judith suggested?
ReplyDeleteI am really loving your felt adventures - they are really inspiring and I am sure that the teachers will love them. C
ReplyDeleteYes Hadley you know how much you love to FMQ - have you tried that on your felt?
ReplyDeleteI sometimes use a hoop to stop fabric scrunching up or use wadding with it to make it resist disappearing down the hole!
Good luck if you try again! If it does scrunch up a bit I find an iron works a treat!
Love the baubles! Would some stabiliser help with your felt/sewing machine woes? I use stitch and tear - the tearing part is very satisfying! Oh, and I'm not in the bee so I think I can also have a peek at the present!!
ReplyDeleteThese are great too...love the colours!
