Getting there...

Well the bobbins have been wound and I am almost ready for Retreat...

Even now though, I am having an absolute nightmare trying to work out how to get all the necessary, and unnecessary gubbins up to town on Saturday morning.

I am not even going to contemplate the 'what if it rains' scenario, but have seriously had to factor in the 'I don't have a Sherpa to hand and will have to cart the tonne of stuff all by myself' scenario.

So I have pulled out my pink trolley - purchased at the Ideal Home Show last year to cart all the freebies about, so I know I have managed to get it on the tube and train OK, but the added 'bonus' of a sewing machine is not making this much fun!

Hopefully I will get it sorted in a trial 'load and lift' tomorrow, otherwise I will have to send hubby up into the loft-inferno to find a suitcase.

Right, last bits to make this evening, so I'll be off xxx

  5. love the bespoke label on your trolley. I am trying not to think about how I will get my heavy sewing machine around London: I was thinking of borrowing a trolley from my mum but think that will be just a much paff as carrying a heavy machine!

  11. All those sewing machines converging on London! An amazing thought. Blackouts in London caused by excess sewing machines!
and the lugging of them! Maybe it is just as well I am not going- mine might be the final straw!

Have a wonderful time anyway. Looking forward to your posts about it.

  13. Perfect label. Do you know what time you will arrive? My first class is not until later so I could meet you at the subway and help you carry stuff if you had a basic idea of where you will get off and what time. I love the pink cart!

  15. My sewing machine was delivered to it's chaufeur last night! Just the massive suitcase to negotiate! At least it will be lighter on the way back! :) If you need a hand on arrival, shout ok!

  18. I see the purchase of a featherweight in your future - a lightweight machine to cart about. I wonder if they come in coordinating cart colors?

  19. The more I see of all you are taking to retreat, I fear I won't be able to haul all that stuff from the states to London next year.

  23. I love the trolley and its label!! You could always borrow another from one of the teachers at the kids' school - someone's bound to have one!! Have a fabulous time and don't leave Nicky on the train!

  24. I toyed with many options, including suitcases, and only when I took 2 trips to get down to the car *without* the sewing machine, did it dawn on my that I should have gone with something else, but my suitcases are at my gran's so I shall have to live with a couple of trips from the hotel I think!
