So which quilt am I going to enter?
Wrong!
I did think long and hard about taking the obvious route, but actually I thought it would be a nice change for everyone if I picked my somewhat overlooked Cherry Star...
I love this quilt to pieces; I finished it so close to the Brit Bee Constellation that it has been playing second fiddle ever since.
It's just such a happy quilt, and actually took quite a lot of effort (for me!). Do you do that, make something, get embroiled in it at the time, and then look back and wonder how you had the time and inclination to get something so right?
Now if you are coming over here from the Festival, and don't know me, please note, I sew on the dining table, and have to shift every mealtime, I have no design wall and 3 'helpful' children, so getting the layout for this was a logistical feat in itself.
Having completed this quilt way back in January, when the garden was less than pretty, I thought it was only right to give it another airing especially for the occasion...
Full details:

Thank you for stopping by, I will be busy looking at everyone else's entries later today - it may take some time! And if this is your first time Chez FB, thank you, please stay a while have a look around, the natives are friendly x
Fab choice Had! Though Constellation would have been an equally fab choice too! Jxo
ReplyDeleteThey're both great, love the start too!
ReplyDeletesorry, that should have been 'Star'..
ReplyDeleteI think I almost like this better than the constellation, I love the rainbow and the star and the ikea fabric is fab!
ReplyDeleteHaha, I was thinking you might go this way instead... though you know my heart belongs to Constellation!
ReplyDeleteLove the Cherry Star, too. The background fabric is perfect. It adds a level of sophistication that I adore. Gorgeous.
Love Love Love! And your choice of that IKEA fabric is inspired (got some myself yesterday!)
ReplyDeleteBrill choice & delighted to hear you are a kitchen stitcher!
ReplyDeleteLove to the three "helpers"
I do love the colours in this one, great way to use up those charms, glad it got its own day out!
ReplyDeleteI love both of these quilts as I have a bit of an addiction to stars it seems. Your Constellation quilt inspired me to start one myself, and now I've seen the Cherry Star....
ReplyDeleteThanks for telling the story again :) 220 squares? I am not sure if I ever will have the motivation to make a project like that! But it looks amazing! I love it :)
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt. So darn happy and pretty. Also pleased to hear I am not the only one sewing on a dining room table and shifting for each meal ;) ahh well at least me new seat is right under the heat pump :)
ReplyDeleteAww, there it is again, my favorite! I just bought the IKEA fabric and am eager to start, but I think I have to wait until we moved into our new home.
ReplyDeleteYup, you're right, this one definitely deserved another outing, its glorious.
ReplyDeleteSuper pumped to see that darling of a Constellation quilt.Spam, spam, spam.
ReplyDeleteLove love love it! I've seen plenty of the Made in Cherry quilts, but yours is a stunner. Great use of those rainbow charms. I've got a boatload of them myself. And love the Ikea fabric.
ReplyDeleteWell done!
Well Hadley you have sort of shown of both - very clever!
ReplyDeleteBut I am happy to see both these stars any time you are willing to let me!
So glad you gave this one a little more time in the sun!!
ReplyDeleteI like the placement of color in this quilt.
ReplyDeleteWow, it's just gorgeous !!
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt! I also love that you managed to half enter Constellation at the same time!!
ReplyDeleteThis is just gorgeous!...i think i might have to make one!
ReplyDeleteThis is BEAUTIFUL! I love the background fabric, and am impressed by the fact you did it with 3 kids and no dedicated sewing space. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI do love this quilt - the colours are just so cheerful! Nice to see it out in the summer too.
ReplyDeleteI love how the colours flow, not just blocks but they fade into each other, always nice to see it again
ReplyDeleteA very well deserved second viewing. Love this quilt and thrilled to see it again.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember seeing the number fabric at Ikea the last time I was there. I'll have to put Ikea back on my ToDo list.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt - especially in the sun.
It's wonderful -- I don't think I ever saw this complete, with the number fabric (which is a great touch!!).
ReplyDeleteOh yay, and I'm a dining room table stitcher too...in fact, all my work AND craft stuff is in the common space (open plan main floor, living-dining-kitchen), so I completely "get" the shuffle-it-away routine :)
love it! Great choice for the festival :-D
ReplyDeletea great entry to the quilt festival: i love this quilt
ReplyDeleteThis really is one awesome quilt! Thanks for sharing some process pics too.
ReplyDeleteThe color gradient is stunning--honestly, this quilt, which you say didn't get enough attention, is my preferred one of the two! Love it.
ReplyDeleteWow - just awesome. I love the text fabric, but the whole quilt just zings.
ReplyDeleteLove the choice. Should show it more!
ReplyDeleteYippe! I love that Cherry gets her time in the spotlight too! Love the mini elves you have growing in your tree :)
ReplyDeleteI would like to see it quilted, it is a beautiful rainbow quilt.
ReplyDeleteWhile different, both are very beautiful. Lovely to see both both again.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous work! I really like how the handwritten fabric accents the rainbow star. bravo! <3
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt best! So pretty with the rainbow of colors!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilts, love the lone star, and the colours are great!
ReplyDeleteThe new photo shoot makes this quilt look even better than the first, if that is possible. One of my favorites of yours for sure!
ReplyDeleteI see that I have yet another reason to find an IKEA now if the sell cute fabric like your background. Fun stuff! Thanks for taking off the word verification, I hate reading "prove you aren't a robot"

I love your Made in Cherry quilt. It's really fabulous, especially with the great background fabric you used.
ReplyDeleteOooh, I looove your rainbow Made in Cherry! Your layout is fabulous and the background is awesome! I can't believe you trimmed 220 charms down to 3.5 inches, though -- I think that's more work than making the size that takes 5 inch squares! :D
ReplyDeleteThe Ikea print background is genius! I am in love!
ReplyDeleteOK you fooled me for a minute!. Lovely quilt - good luck in the competition
ReplyDeleteI'm very happy as this is my fave of yours, so it's lovely to see it again!
ReplyDeleteGreat choice to enter! Can you bring this to retreat so I can study it closer? (read - run off into the sunset with) ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love it! Such a great quilt! I have been trying to find that number fabric in the wrong place :)
ReplyDeleteYou know I love this one!! You did such a great job on it.
ReplyDeleteYour star is just gorgeous, but now I'm really enamored with the text in the background. love it. Nice nice job. I love how your tied it all together. And I really like the color palette in the quilt you didn't choose.
ReplyDeleteConstellation is beautiful and I'll never tire of seeing it (honest!!) but Cherry Star is so beautiful and it's a tough call but I think it's my favourite of yours! I adore everything about it and that is just the MOST PERFECT background fabric. I adore it!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful! I was staring at this quilt for so long because it's so pleasing to see the beautiful flow of colors! Love the text background too!
ReplyDeleteThat Ikea word fabric just makes it PERFECT! Love it, and such a great job laying out the colors the way you did, so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBoth gorgeous quilts! Seems like you need to keep making more star quilts!
ReplyDeleteReally lovely! I just finished my Cherry quilt too - I love the colors in yours!
ReplyDeleteLove it! And I especially love the little gnomes! I made a camera case out of that fabric and it still makes me smile nearly two years later!
ReplyDeleteI adore your colour choice & you have done Sarah proud I am sure ... great work! I just voted for you!! Cheers ....

ReplyDeleteBoth quilts are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWow this looks so great in the rainbow Hadley and I love your background fabric. Well done!! xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely, lovely quilt. Your choice of that large text print for the background was so spot on for the large star block. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a special quilt. I so love the unusual choice of text for background, which I really would expect for a pillow, but not a quilt. So great!
ReplyDeleteI can't even tell you how much I LOVE this quilt! It's just fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt!!! So beautifully done.
