#happyday

On the weekends I like to have a quick look at my iPad before venturing from our warm bed, postponing going into the usual war zone of children and breakfast cereal, (this morning it was kids fuelled on thieved cookies!).

Today I also awoke to the most lovely and excellent surprise courtesy of the amazing Nova.  Did you see this post

I did, and it was the best start to the day.  If you don't follow Nova's blog, a cuppa and a catch up, I jolly well suggest you start!  She makes the most beautiful things, and has written some wonderful patterns, which, even if you aren't familiar with the lady herself, you will have seen all over the Land of Blog.  Thank you again my lovely friend x

The rest of the day continued equally happy; the snow remains, so we went out with the sledges, and ended up at the park, where there was an albeit small slope, (and best, did not require any parental assistance), and it provided an hour of fun before the cold took grip and we headed back for hot chocolate...

After lunch, I reclaimed the table, and set to quilting my #scrappytripalong.

A couple of hours of nearly-straight-lining, and it was done!  I quilted each side of alternate seams, and called it a day.  It looks good, feels good too; so tomorrow I will trim and attach the binding, and that will be me sorted for a few chilly evenings of stitching.  Wonderful.

And now, the small people are finally up in bed, time for a DVD.  I think Mister Clooney has been waiting his turn since Christmas; so it would be rude not to.

  9. Wow, that sure was a great start for a day! And the bag is absolutely stunning.

It's always fun to see kids enjoying that Hateful White Stuff, mine absolutely love it!
We had a lovely 5 week winter holiday back home in december, with 2 feet of snow. When we got back to Sardinia the first morning home my eldest looked out of the window asking "mommy is it always spring here?" Yeah honey, there might not be many good sides to living here, but NOT having snow for sure is one of them.

  13. Sounds like a good day, and you will be finished that quilt in no time. I saw that Nova made that for you, it is lovely. In Canada we call the sleds "toboggans" - oh and it is going down to -28C here tonight.

  17. I also read this post and it made me smile and then I went to Nova's blog and left. Comment. I was reding your blog I'm bed with a cuppa using my iPad which is also a bit of a weekend habit. I'm lucky though as my children are older and are never up in the morning. I'm wondering if you, or your readers can tell me how to sort out my tech habit. At present I have emails coming to my iPad, iPhone and Mac and need to find a way to make them disappear once read on one device, especially as I subscribe to blogs via email. Spending to much time deleting emails I've already read but don't want to make them become spam. I read your blog most days but don't always comment to thought after enjoying your blog I should comment more as we do all like to know someone is listening every now and then.

  18. Do you pin baste or spray baste? I ALWAYS seem to get areas that pucker whichever I use, most frustrating. We're on the east coast and haven't had a huge amount of snow so far, but I think we're about to get our share overnight in time for the Monday rush hour. Great! I'll check out Nova's blog!

  23. I read Nova's post and it was an eye opener for me. I'm a new blogger (and I find it very difficult to actually blog) and when I get comments it just completely makes my day - so why wouldn't everyone feel that way, right? Since her post (granted, it was just yesterday) I have been commenting on the blogs I read. I appreciate the time it takes to craft the blog post; I appreciate the sharing of ideas and pictures and family and thoughts. Thank you for sharing!

  24. I completely understand your peace before the war zone! I'm not good in the mornings, and my husband is worse. I really enjoy waking sneaking out of bed and eating my breakfast alone before I have to throw food to the hungry wolves, or meet their other demands. It just makes it so much easier if I've had that food and the time to wake up myself before I have to deal with being a Mummy!
