Who's that dashing young chap? |
I used Klona white and a selection of those lovely C&H Fabrics crossweave cottons along with my favourite Klona Jade for the backing.
It measures in at 48" x 60", all stitched up in Aurifil 50, grey (2612) for piecing, off-white (2021) on the top and a light turquoise (5006) on the back for the minimal quilting. Jobs a good'un.
As my lovely Brit Bee ladies are already finding out, (mwah), not having to trim HSTs is rather refreshing and this all came together very quickly. I am still finalising the design for the second quilt. which will incorporate the same dies plus 2" squares and HSTs.
Day 10 and I am happy to have my first finish for the year, and it's a whole quilt, albeit a small one. Not sure I am going to be able to manage a quilt a week, oh can you imagine?! But it is looking scarily like I could have 3 clocked up in January!!
and breathe!
ReplyDeleteLooks great, very tempted by that sizzix thing

ReplyDeleteWell done! I've just got the binding to sew on a quilt and that will be my first finish of 2013. I'm looking at buying a Sizzix with my Christmas money but can't decide on what dies will be most useful.

ReplyDeleteVery nice quilt. Love the simplicity of it. I was contemplating a sissix or go baby. You clearly love yours.
ReplyDeleteGreat job there O, didnt realise you were so tall! I'm not usually a great fan if churn dash, but from your colour choice (yummy colours) this time I saw the pattern of diamonds And rectangles in the negative spaces, much more of a fan now, wonder what it would look like with the fabrics swapped?
ReplyDeleteLove your churn dash! Do you get to go with the quilt then?
ReplyDeletereally no trimming? Wow. How about the bias edge issue? Tell me all!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is great...love the colours and design. Well done!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous quilt. I love the colours!
ReplyDeleteLooks great as does the quilt model. You didn't seriously think you could make a quilt a week did you? Think how much fabric and wadding you'd need to buy. That would put you off lol!
ReplyDeleteLike I've said before - you're one scary lady!
ReplyDeleteLove the block, love the quilt, love your choice of colors! Fabulous job!
ReplyDeleteChurn Dash was the first block I was taught when I learned to quilt, and so it is near and dear to my heart!
LOL if anyone could manage a quilt a week I'd put my money on you... I was about to say "my hasnt he GROWN!" but then I noticed the bench... lol
ReplyDeleteI would expect nothing less that 52 quilts ;-) Oooh, now that's a challenge should I ever win the lottery or alternatively move to the States. It's a perfect finish and your assistant is indeed very dashing.
